I have booked the Carn Dearg club hut in Glen Clova for the weekend of 20/21st March 2010. (Fri and Sat nights booked with an option to stay Sun night if desired).
Glen Clova is one of the 'Angus Glens' and is on the eastern fringes of the Cairngorms. There are several Munros around the head of the Glen including Dreish, Mayar and the White Mounth hills. There is a nice pub/hotel a few miles back down the Glen.
The hut is basic, please read the description before booking - accomodation for up to 16 is on 'Alpine style' sleeping platforms so you will need a sleeping bag and sleep mat. There is running water in the hut providing the supply is not frozen, the alternative is the adjacent river !
I won't try to second guess the weather or conditions but in mid-march I would hope that this would be a "winter" walking weekend, members should therefore be prepared and equipped for Scottish winter conditions as low level options are fairly limited without leaving the Glen.
The cost is £5 pppn for the hut which is payable at the time of booking, We will also need to provide fuel and supplies which can be organised nearer the time.
"Cancelled places will only be refunded once we have covered the minimum occupancy cost of the hut".
To reserve a place, put your name down for the event and Sue will email her address to you, you will need to send a cheque for £10 payable to '40swalkersnorth'. (This is the cost for 2 nights, anyone staying on for the Sunday night can pay on the weeknd).
Feel free to contact me with any questions,
Mark
